Capital Area School for the Arts (CASA) is located on the first floor of Strawberry Square at Third and Walnut Streets. CASA is a partnership between the Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU) and Open Stage of Harrisburg. It provides an intensive, half-day program that provides training to nearly 160 high school students from all across the various 24 school districts within CAIU’s jurisdiction. The students receive training in five areas of arts education: dance, film and video, music, theatre, and visual art to qualified high school students in the capital region.

Messiah College's Harrisburg Institute is an interdisciplinary research, service, and training site which develops strategies of community engagement that address core community issues and fosters mutual learning among students, educators, agencies and communities. 25 Messiah students live on site as part of the residential Serving and Living Together program, encouraging voluntary service and civic engagement in the City of Harrisburg.
